TKF Secures IAC Contract Windpark Fryslân

TKF has been awarded a contract by Van Oord to supply the inter-array cable connections between the turbines and the offshore substation for the 383 MW Windpark Fryslân, located in the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands.

TKF, part of the TKH Group NV, will design, manufacture and deliver in total 90.1 kilometers 33 kV aluminium core inter-array cables. In addition, TKF will provide the associated accessories for this project.

The Windpark Fryslân project will be built in the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands. The wind parkcomprises of 89 Siemens Gamesa turbines of 4.3 MW, which are placed in a cluster form. It is the largest wind park in the world that is built in inland water. It has an output capacity of 383 MW and is expected to account for more than 70% of the Province of Friesland’s 2020 Renewable energy target of 530 MW.

The construction of the project has started, and the project is intended to be operational by 2021. The delivery and installation of the cables will start in September 2020.
