Petrobras Receives Award for Technologies Developed for the Búzios Field
It was announced by the organizers of the Offshore Tecnhnology Conference (OTC) that Petrobras is the winner of the main technology award in the world oil and gas industry, the Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, granted annually by the institution. The award recognizes the set of innovations developed to enable production in the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt.
To make this project a reality, the company developed a series of technologies for a scenario that combines challenging conditions, such as ultra-deep waters and reservoirs located below the salt layer, subjected to high pressure levels, as well as a high presence of carbon dioxide. The innovations cover the technical areas of reservoirs, wells, elevation and flow, in addition to subsea technologies and surface installations.
One of the main milestones of the project was the installation of four FPSO-type vessels (floating oil storage, production and transfer unit) in a period of just 11 months – in a single production field.
Delivery Ceremony
The award will be delivered to Petrobras in a ceremony scheduled for May 4, during the OTC congress in Houston, Texas (USA), with the presence of President Castello Branco, Petrobras directors, in addition to representatives of the company’s technical areas . On the occasion, the company will present a special session entirely dedicated to the technologies developed for the Búzios field.
History of award-winning innovations
Petrobras receives this international recognition for the fourth time, in a trajectory that has followed its technological evolution in deep and ultra-deep waters. The first time was in 1992, due to the innovations developed for the Marlim field, in the Campos Basin; the second, in 2001, for solutions designed for Roncador; for the third time, in 2015, for the set of ten technologies specially created for pre-salt production.
In 2019, the Brazilian edition of the Conference (OTC Brasil) also awarded Petrobras the Distinguished Achieviement Award, for the set of innovations implemented during the Libra Long Term Test (TLD), in the Santos Basin pre-salt.
