Petroamazonas EP Invests USD 130 Million in the Amazons

Petroamazonas EP announced that by 2020 they will have invested USD 130 million in the Amazonian provinces of Orellana, Sucumbíos and Napo, through the hiring of popular and solidarity economy actors for the provision of works, services and hand bonding of local work both by the company and by the consortiums that provide services for Petroamazonas in the region.

This announced was made by the General Manager of Petroamazonas EP (S), Lenin Pozo, during the presentation of the 2019 Amazon Contract Compliance report and the presentation of the 2020 projection that was made this Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the camp from Lago Agrio, Block 56, attended by the Vice President of the Republic, Otto Sonnenholzner, the Minister of Energy, José Agusto Briones and local authorities.

During 2019, the National Government, through Petroamazonas EP, invested USD 128 million to contract food, transportation, security and cleaning services with local associations of Sucumbíos, Orellana and Napo.

Since 2017, the company began a process to fully contract goods and services provided by enterprises in the Amazon region, from an investment amount of USD. 29 million dollars in 2016, to USD 128 million in 2019. This increase means a 77% increase in the investment made by the state oil company in the region.

Local hiring carried out by Petroamazonas EP adds to the generation of direct and indirect sources of work related to hydrocarbon activity, so that in 2019, 83% of Petroamazonas EP workers who provide their services in the Amazon are born or residents in the region, and around 6,800 Amazonians.
