CMHI Celebrates Launch of Newbuild Semi GustoMSC CM-SD1000

China Merchant Heavy Industries (CMHI) has launched a new semi-submersible drilling rig for a potential charter with China Oilfield Service Ltd (COSL).

The CM-SD1000 is a joint development of CMHI and GustoMSC. The moored drilling unit is designed to operate in water depths up to 1000m. The CM-SD1000 is a cost-efficient solution. Its design features include a high variable deck load, a large deck area, an optimized hull shape and a high operability. The drilling system is provided by Dutch company Huisman.
