Hywind Tampen, the world’s largest floating offshore wind farm, had a milestone when Aker Solutions in Stord started the concrete slip-forming. These will be the first concrete foundations to be placed on Norwegian continental shelf since the gigantic Troll A substructure, which was delivered by Norwegian Contractors back in 1995.

The project builds on the offshore concrete technology that began in the Norwegian basin during the 1970s. It was continued internationally on large concrete projects in Canada, Italy and Russia, and has paved the way for future wind projects around the world.

For the Hywind Tampen project, there will be a total of almost 1.2 kilometers of slip-forming. Once complete, the 11 foundations will reach a height of 107 meters each!
