Allseas is ramping up the final performance tests of Pioneering Spirit’s new 5000-tonne crane as the final phase of commissioning nears conclusion in Rotterdam’s Alexiahaven. Today, the main hoist overload test (pictured) was performed with a cargo barge weighing 5500 tonnes.

Next up are auxiliary hoist, power management and speed tests. Once complete, the crane will be certified and ready for action during this summer’s heavy lift campaign.

Complementing the unique topsides and jacket lift systems, the new crane is for lighter offshore lifts, such as smaller topsides and jackets, flares and bridges, and further enhances the versatility of the world’s largest construction vessel.
