PEAK Wind announces the formal establishment of its new practice group: “Floating Wind Excellence”. This  new expert group will work towards further commercialisation of Floating Offshore Wind within operations and asset management.

The industry is quickly moving towards full commercialisation of Floating Offshore Wind, expected to be reached by 2030. Recent investments across the world have already put several GW of floating wind on the development map. This is a clear indication that floating wind will soon account for a significant portion of offshore energy.

To support this growing trend, PEAK Wind have established a new expert team to provide tailored floating wind services within technical, operational  and asset management areas. The ‘Floating Wind Excellence’ unit is headed by Ilmas Bayati, who has more than a decade of experience working with Floating Wind designers and developers.

“The last decade has been characterized by an exciting R&D phase, witnessing the development of several different floating concepts. A few early movers have commissioned their prototypes, currently operating at sea, to demonstrate the feasibility of such technology. Today, the question is not ‘if’ but ‘how’ efficiently the commercial floating wind farms will be operated and maintained in the future”, Ilmas Bayati, Head of the Floating Wind Excellence practice group.

Ilmas Bayati has been invited as a speaker at the 2022 edition of the WindEurope conference in April. He will cover the current possibilities and future opportunities within Major Components Replacement strategies for floating wind farms.

By gathering experts and resources specifically within floating wind, PEAK Wind now delivers commercial, technical and strategy support across the entire value chain of floating wind projects.

This new development further establishes PEAK Wind’s position as a trusted market-leading consultancy within renewable energy. These services include: asset management, operations preparations, commercial and contracts, data and intelligence, due diligence, engineering and asset integrity, operational excellence project management, among others. Currently PEAK Wind has over 1.5 GW of assets under management.
